Smartphone Photography Workshop for Young People in Hampshire

FREE Kickstarter Photo Walkshop for Young People at Staunton Country Park – Introduction to Smartphone Photography (2)

We are excited to offer four FREE 2-hour photography walkshops for young people as part of Staunton Country Park‘s Kickstarter project, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Participants will explore the park on a guided photography walk with a professional photographer, along the way learning different skills and techniques and using them to capture nature, portraiture, and much more. The workshop will aim to teach smartphone photography skills such as basics of focusing and exposure through to different composition techniques including the rule of thirds, different perspectives, etc. Helpful hints and tips will also be provided on how to edit your photos and sharing online on social media such as Instagram.

Staunton Country Park is the free entry parkland to the north of the well-known ornamental farm, petting zoo, and glasshouses. We will be starting at the main gate and exploring the parkland down to the remains of the old mansion house. These remains include old archways and stairs and views out to the lake further down the valley. We’ll discover the old shell house before making our way down to the water and forest before using the arched bridge out onto the island.

Expect to see summer flowers and plants, woodland, old ruins, a wide-open lake, wildlife, and much more.

This is one of two introduction workshops, there are also two slightly more advanced workshops exploring creative photography and new perspectives.

This is for young people aged 18 and under in the Havant and local area (e.g. from Portsmouth to Emsworth and north to Petersfield).

MEET

At the entrance to the country park of Staunton, on the north side of Middle Park Way.

There is a new carpark in the north of the park, off of Petersfield Road. Buses 21 and 27 stop near the entrance. Havant train station is about 20-30 minutes walk away.
